Conroe and Texas in general has a lot of history tied to the oil and lumber industries. The Heritage Museum of Montgomery County is where to experience this. You get to experience historic Texan homes, an old-fashioned general store with costumes, and even a log cabin. You can also step into and experience the former office of the first Secretary of State for the Republic of Texas. It was in this very office that the current Texas flag was designed. The museum is open from Wednesday to Saturday between 9 am and 4 pm.
