About Conroe, Tx
Conroe is a city located in Montgomery County, Texas. It is located 40 miles to the north of Houston and is the main city in the Houston – The Woodlands – Sugar Land metro area. The population of Conroe was 98,081 based on 2021 estimates. Conroe is named after a Houston lumberman and Cavalry officer called Isaac Conroe. Mr. Conroe established a sawmill at the site in 1881 as the city gained its wealth from the oil and lumber industries. By the late 19th century, the area was already experiencing a lot of influx due to the piney wood forest in the area. The city was incorporated in 1904. In the 1930’s, and because of oil profits, Conroe briefly had more millionaires per capita than any other city in the country.
