What is a brow lift?
A brow lift is a collection of natural procedures that address the signs of aging on your upper face, including the forehead and the areas around your eyes. A brow lift generally involves making strategic incisions behind or along the hairline to trim away excess skin tissues and smoothen your skin’s surface. Depending on your specific goals, the underlying muscles might be weakened to reduce dynamic wrinkles, such as the forehead lines and frown lines.
What happens during the brow lift procedure?
The surgeon makes incisions behind the hairline or just along the hairline, depending on your specific goals. In some cases, the surgeon might also perform the surgery via extremely small incisions in targeted locations. Dr. Wu will identify the incision style and provide an overview during your consultation.
After making the necessary incisions, the surgeon will remove excess skin tissues to prevent sagging skin and facial creases. Dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines and frown lines, appear because of the overuse of targeted facial muscles. As such, the surgeon might weaken the muscles responsible for these dynamic wrinkles, thus softening your facial appearance. Finally, the skin tissues will be redraped in the new position and sutured.
What’s the post-brow lift process like?
Afterward your head will be wrapped in bandages for the first day, and the sutures will be removed after one week. You can reduce post-treatment pain and discomfort with oral medications. Most patients experience swelling and bruising for 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure. However, you can use makeup after a few days to conceal the discoloration and bruises. Dr. Wu will provide an overview of your recovery guidelines to ensure a smooth recovery process.
